The Shepherd's Tent With Mark Casto
The Shepherd’s Tent with Mark Casto is a spiritual formation podcast for Kingdom leaders navigating faith, leadership, family, and calling in a culture driven by hustle and performance.
Whether you lead a church, a business, a ministry, or simply a home, the pressure to produce can slowly drain the life out of your soul.
This podcast confronts the unhealthy rhythms hiding inside modern leadership and calls listeners back to something better:
• beloved identity instead of performance
• Spirit-filled rest instead of burnout
• family-first rhythms instead of ambition-driven exhaustion
• the finished work of Christ as the foundation of life and leadership
Here we remember who we are.
Here, the vineyard within matters as much as the vineyard we lead.
This isn’t leadership strategy.
This is restoration.
New episodes weekly.

If you hate selling, it's probably because you've confused selling with manipulating. But Scripture doesn't condemn selling. It condemns withholding. Proverbs 11.26 says, I want you to think about that. The one who withholds, the one who hides away their supply, the one who refuses to distribute what they've been entrusted with is But the one who sells, who brings the grain, their provision, their solution to the market is blessed. You've been told sales is selfish, that selling your wisdom, your coaching, your product is somehow evil. But the word says the opposite. Not selling what God put in you is selfish because it withholds food from people who are starving. I want to be clear from the start. Sales is not manipulation. Sales is not manipulation. Sales is not tricking people. Sales is not hype. Sales is stewardship. It's the act of bringing your God-given solution into the hands of people who need it most. If you don't sell, you're hiding your grain, and people go hungry.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to the Mark Castro Program, where we challenge the old systems, tear down chaos, and build with kingdom clarity. Here, we equip a generation of wise messengers like you to turn God-given wisdom into lasting impact and real wealth. Let's dive in.
SPEAKER_01Guys, this is the Mark Castro Program, your go-to podcast for faith-based entrepreneurs, coaches, and creatives. Every week, I help you package your wisdom, grow a purpose-driven business, and make the impact you were created for without burning out. And if you're ready to break free from outdated mindsets about money, sales, business, hey, just pull up a seat and let's dive in. Now, let's be real. Most people listening right now have a complicated relationship with sales. You love helping people. You believe in transformation. You want to change lives. But when it comes to asking for money, your throat gets tight. Your palms sweat. You hesitate. You can talk about your message for hours. But the second you say, here's the price, something in you shuts down. And I get it because most of us were programmed with a script that said, selling is sleazy. Asking for money is greedy. If this is really from God, it should be free. Guys, those are powerful sentences, not because they're true, but because they've been repeated enough to feel true. Now, let me show you how deep this runs. When I was first building my business, I can remember having incredible conversations with people who needed what I was offering. They were hurting. They were stuck. They were literally saying, I need a way out of this mess. And I had the solution. But the second it came time to tell them the price, my body revolted. I'd clear my throat. I'd soften my voice. I'd almost apologize before I even said the number. And what happened? They walked away. Not because my solution wasn't good, not because my offer didn't work, but because my posture told them, even I don't believe this is worth it. That's poverty programming. That's the curse of withholding grain. Proverbs 11, 26 cuts straight through It doesn't say the one who sells is cursed. It says the one who withholds is cursed. Why? Because when you bury what you've been given, people who need it starve. Think about the parable of the talents. I mention this all the time. The servant who buried what he had wasn't punished for financial mismanagement. He was punished for fear, for withholding, for calling safety what God called waste. The same priest applies to you. If God gave you wisdom, if he put in you strategies and insights, experiences, frameworks, solutions, and you bury them under false humility or the fear of rejection or religious programming that says, don't sell. Guys, that's not holiness. That's withholding. And the people who could have been blessed by your grain, they remain hungry. Now let's talk about scarcity. Scarcity is not just a lack of money. scarcity is a mindset it's a lens that colors the way you see every decision when scarcity runs the show every sales conversation feels like begging every price feels too high every investment feels like suicide scarcity whispers don't charge that much don't ask for the sale don't invest in yourself don't risk what you can't afford to lose but here's the irony The more you obey scarcity, the more it proves itself right. Because you stay small, you stay broke, you stay safe, but stuck. Scarcity becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I remember coaching a client who had an incredible program. She was helping women break free from toxic cycles, heal their identity, and start fresh. Her testimonials were amazing. But she was going to charge you just a wait for this,$47. Why? Because her dad always told her, don't take advantage of people. And in her brain, charging fairly felt like exploitation. So what happened? She over-delivered. She burned herself out. She barely broke even. And the women she served, they didn't value it. They didn't take it seriously. Because here's the truth. When you undercharge, you don't bless people. You rob them of the urgency to So, let's reframe the conversation. Sales is not extracting money from people. Sales is opening the storehouse. Sales is bringing your grain to market. Sales is saying, I have what you need and I've built a fair exchange so you can access it. And according to Proverbs, that's not cursed. That's blessed. Now, before we keep going, let me ask for a quick favor. If this podcast is speaking to you, would you take 10 seconds right now to hit subscribe and leave a five-star review? It helps this show reach more entrepreneurs, coaches, authors, creatives who need to break free from the poverty programming and start building with wisdom. I want to thank you again for being a the episode. So here's what I need you to catch today. Sales is not about pressure. Sales is not about twisting arms. Sales is not about forcing someone into something they don't want. Sales is service. Write that down. Say it out loud. Anchor it in your spirit. Sales is service. Because what is service? It's solving someone's problem. When someone is in pain, whether physical, emotional, financial, and you have the medicine, selling is putting the medicine in their hands. Imagine this. A doctor walks into a room with a patient. The patient's sick, hurting, and doesn't know how to get well. The doctor has the cure in his briefcase, but instead of sharing it, he just says, well, if it's meant to be, you'll figure it out. Would you call that compassionate? Would you call that Or would you call that malpractice? See, when you have a solution and you refuse to sell it, you're committing malpractice. Now, I know that's strong language, but I want you to feel the weight of this. Because for too long, people of faith have been convinced that hiding their solution is somehow spiritual. It's not. It's malpractice. The people curse the one who withholds grain, but blessing is on the head of the one who sells it. Now, let's look at the life of the Apostle Paul for a second. The book of Acts says Paul was persuading daily. Guys, that's sales language. He wasn't manipulating daily. He wasn't coercing daily. He was persuading. Persuasion is presenting truth in such a way that people can see it, they can feel it, and step into it. That's what sales is. It's persuasion toward a solution. Think about it. Every great sermon is a sales conversation. The preacher paints the problem, sin, brokenness, the illusion of separation from God. The preacher presents the solution, Jesus, forgiveness, reconciliation. And then the preacher extends the offer. Come to the altar. Receive Christ. Make a decision. We've grown up in this church model our entire life. If you've ever preached the gospel, you've sold. But because the gospel is the highest truth, you didn't see it as manipulative. I can't hardly say that word, manipulative. You saw it as invitation. You saw it as service. So why, when it comes to your business, do you suddenly label the same process, quote unquote, sleazy? You're not manipulating. You're persuading. You're inviting. You're serving. Now, let's zoom out. We're living in the greatest economic shift in history. For decades, wealth was locked up in systems that required gatekeepers, banks, factories, universities. But today, we are in what I call the wisdom economy. People aren't just paying for products. They're paying for transformation. They're paying for access to knowledge, frameworks, shortcuts, and experience. That means your mind is your most valuable asset. But here's the catch. If you don't learn how to sell what's in your mind, you'll stay trapped. Guys, I was listening to a man by the name of Dean Graziosi, and I heard him say this quote, and it really hit me. Self-education changes lives faster than traditional education ever could. And guess what, guys? He's right. College might have given you a degree, but packaging your wisdom into a program, a course, a coaching offer, that can give you freedom. You have something, friend, that people need. And in this economy, selling it... isn't optional. It's essential. So let me show you what this looks like in real life. Case study number one. I worked with a pastor's wife who had years of experience helping women heal from burnout and overwhelm, but she never charged a dime. Why? Because she thought, if God gave it to me, I shouldn't sell it. Now, when we reframe sales as service, she finally launched a coaching program. Her first month, she enrolled four women at$1,000 each. And do you know what they said? Thank you. Paying for this made me actually commit to transformation. I got another case study here. A young author wrote a book but refused to create an online course because he thought it would feel like monetizing ministry. So we reframe the conversation as multiplying his message. He finally sold a course for$2.97. Within weeks, men and women from around the world were learning from him who would have never been able to meet him in person. His message traveled farther because he sold it. Guys, another example was a business coach. Priced his offer at$97 because he was afraid of rejection. He He was working 60 hours a week just to scrape by. We helped him build a premium$5,000 package, and at first he thought, no one's going to pay that. But when he finally sold his first client at that level, the client said, I'm grateful you priced this high. It forced me to take it seriously. See, guys, that's the power of selling with integrity. It doesn't rob people. It releases them. Now, you've been thinking, Sales is stewardship. I want you to repeat that with me. Sales is stewardship. Sales is stewardship. I'm going to say it one more time. Sales is stewardship. And every time you say it, you're rewriting the script. Guys, if this conversation is hitting you and you know you're ready to stop withholding your grain, if you're ready to finally build a business that multiplies your wisdom instead of burying it, I want to invite you to apply for the Wise Builders Creator Academy. For 12 months, I walk with you step by step, helping you clarify your niche, create your offer, build simple systems, and sell with confidence. This isn't a discovery call. It is an application because I only work with leaders who are serious about multiplying. So if that's you and you're ready to build and you're ready to go to work, I want you to go to markcasto.co backslash academy, markcasto.co backslash academy right now, fill out the short application, and let's see if this is your next step. All right, let's jump back in. Now let's tackle the elephant in the room. We Most of us don't fear sales because of money. We fear sales... because of rejection. Somewhere in your past, you put yourself out there, you asked, you risked, you hoped, and someone said no. And that no lodged itself in your nervous system like a splinter. Now, every time you think about selling from that day forward, your brain drags up that splinter. Remember when they said no? Remember how small you felt? Let's Here's the truth. Rejection isn't personal. Rejection is protection. Not everybody's meant to be your client. Not everybody's ready for your solution. Not everyone is your assignment. That doesn't mean you're unworthy. That means you're selective. Think about Jesus. When he sent out the disciples, he literally told them, if a house doesn't receive you, shake the dust off of your feet and move on. That That's sales. That's rejection management. So let's reframe this conversation. Rejection is not the end of the road. Rejection is redirection. Every no makes space for the right yes. When you stop fearing rejection, you start selling with confidence because you realize you're not begging. You're offering. You're opening the storehouse. And if they're hungry, they'll receive. All right, so we've talked about fear of selling. We've talked about scarcity. We've reframed sales as service, sales as stewardship, sales as multiplying the grain instead of burying it. Now I want you to do something practical. So I want to give you, I always want to be a person that motivates you to take action. So here's the activation challenge for this week. Step one, I want you to write down your grain. What wisdom, skill, story, or system do you have that could feed others? I don't want you to overthink it. Don't make it complicated. Just write down what you've been entrusted with. So step one, write down your grain. Step number two, and if you need to pause the podcast to do this, go ahead and do that. But I want you to ask yourself, where am I withholding this grain? Is it hidden in a journal or on your shelf? Is it buried in your notes app? Is it locked away because you're afraid to to charge. I want you to be honest with step two. Then step three, I want you to reframe this whole mindset. I want you to take Proverbs 11, 26 and speak it over your work. The people curse the one who withholds grain, but blessing is on the head of the one who sells it. And I want you to say it until your nervous system gets the memo. Step number four, create an offer. Yep, that's right. This week, not someday, not after I finish perfecting it. Take one slice of your wisdom and put a price tag on it and create an offer. And then step number five, you guessed it. You're going to make the ask. I want you to tell one person about it. Send one DM. Post one invitation. Practice opening the storehouse because you can listen to this podcast all day long, but until you act, your grain is still bare Guys, don't let fear rob you. Don't let shame keep you quiet. Don't let the old script win. And guys, before we close, let me just share something close to my heart. Guys, we're in the process of building Long Pass Studios. We believe this is becoming a media hub for kingdom creators who refuse to compromise wisdom for hype and entertainment. This is where we're going to produce podcasts and shows courses and content that shifts culture and you can help us build it two ways number one you can partner with us financially we have a non-profit that you can donate to and get a tax deductible at the end of the year all you have to do is go to markcasto.co backslash donate that's the first way secondly join my weekly email list at markcasto.co every week I share behind the scenes lessons strategies and stories that don't make it anywhere else. Both help fuel the movement of wise builders. And I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you for each and every one of you that are standing with us to make this happen. Now, let me land this plane. If you take nothing else from today, take this. Selling's not selfish. Selling's not sinful. Selling's not manipulation. Selling is multiplying. Selling is serving. When you withhold, people starve. When you sell with integrity, people are fed. So stop apologizing for your grain. Stop burying what God put in you. Stop waiting for someone to give you permission to charge. Permission has already been given. The mandate is already clear. Take what you've been given, multiply it, steward it, sell it, and watch the blessing that comes not only on your head, but on every head that eats from from what you brought to the market. Guys, imagine this with me. Imagine six months from now, you've stopped avoiding sales conversations, you're clear, confident, unashamed, you know your value, you state your price without flinching, and people don't just pay you, they thank you. Guys, imagine the ripple effect of that. Your family breathing easier because there's margin again in the of fear. Your clients walking in freedom because you gave them the solution that they had been praying for. That's the future waiting on you. But it starts with one decision. Stop withholding. Start selling. So here's my closing here. If you withhold your grain, people will curse you. But if you sell it with wisdom and integrity, people will bless you. It's time to break the false humility. It's time to dismantle the poverty programming. It's time to embrace sales as service, persuasion as integrity, and money as stewardship. Friend, I'm doing this podcast because this is your moment. This is your mandate. Take your grain to the market and watch what happens when wisdom multiplies. Guys, I hope you enjoyed this episode of the Mark Casto Program. Your go-to podcast podcast for faith-based entrepreneurs coaches and creatives and if this episode stirred you share it with one person who's been hiding their grain and remember what you've been given is far too valuable to bury go sell it go multiply because the world doesn't just need more voices it needs wise builders
